Language Proficiency Tests

Ready to assess your Language Proficiency?

Let Global Arena help you evaluate your workforce’s linguistic competencies. Global Arena offers online language proficiency testing for nine languages. The language proficiency tests are useful for recruitment, job placement, training, and an overall evaluation of language proficiency.

Available languages for proficiency testing

English, French, Spanish, Italian, German, Portuguese, Dutch, Russian and Mandarin Chinese

How does Global Arena’s language proficiency testing work?

The language test is issued to the candidate via email. The initial email sent includes instructions on how to access and complete the test.

The candidate is given a timeframe to complete the test and is able to begin, pause, and resume within that timeframe. After the test is completed, the candidate will have immediate access to their report.

The test administrator will have access to the full report and detailed feedback for each candidate’s test.

Each test ranges from 45 to 60 minutes and contains two sections

  • Grammar and Sentence Structure
  • Oral Comprehension

Each section consists of 60 questions. Once the test is completed, the candidate has immediate access to the report.

The results are based on a scale of 0 (complete beginner) to 5 (bilingual).

Standards

The language proficiency tests were developed to align with the principles of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, the Center for Canadian Language Benchmarks, the Goethe Institute, and the TCF Standards.

Cost and Results

The cost for each online tst is $55, payable prior to receiving the email invitation to the test. Results are provided in PDF format via email upon completion of the test.

Understanding the results:

Can a non-native speaker achieve the proficiency level of a native Speaker?

Learning a new language is a tool for success that will benefit your personal and professional life. However, we need to set the right expectations: achieving a level of proficiency equal to a native speaker is an extremely challenging task.

Thus, we consider being fully bilingual as the closest to being a native speaker for a non-native speaker. For more information in this area, we recommend checking out our Native Speaker blog.
