The Bridging the Gap Medical Interpreter Training Program is a 40 hr training course established by the Cross Cultural Healthcare Program that covers: interpreter roles & ethics, interpreting skills, medical terminology, the impact of culture, and an overview of the U.S. healthcare system.
Two sessions were held at Global Arena in August 2016. The training facility is located in our center city Philadelphia Office. Our qualified Bridging the Gap Trainer instructs the course while utilizing her many years of experience as a professional interpreter to enhance the training experience. The August sessions concluded with 17 out of 17 participants successfully completing the training program; which is a 100% success rate.
We are looking forward to our two upcoming September sessions. We are elated that thus far the training program has been a rewarding endeavor not only for our Interpreters but also for the Philadelphia community which will benefit enormously of our interpreters skills and qualifications. While we don’t have more sessions planned in 2016, we will be offering Bridging the Gap training during 2017. Next year’s schedule will be posted on our website at the beginning of the year; we are planning to have training sessions from April to October.
